Foundry 0.7.10 issue

Open feixonda opened this issue 4 years ago • 4 comments

Hi i'm on 0.7.10 version and can't update to 0.8.x by the moment. Could be possible to install the 0.13 version or a 0.7.10 compatible version?

Thanks for your work and support !

I also have this issue where version scaleGrid 0.0.14 would not work in 0.7.10. The menu option shows up in Foundry's gamescreen, however it doesn't do anything when clicked. I'm unable to upgrade to FVTT 0.8.x yet, breaks too many things and I'm still working through that on the side while still running my primary games.

Looking on Foundry's website, they have the links to the older versions, but they all pull the master branch from here (which will always be 0.0.14).

While I'm not advising this is an absolute solution nor is the the "right" way to handle it, I did manage to get mine working again. What I did for now was cloned the scaleGrid project myself and switched to the last commit before the version bump and copied that over the module file. This allowed me to effectively revert to 0.0.13 until it's available on here as potentially another branch (or fixed).

Not knowing the type of setup you have nor your experience, I'll refrain from posting detailed instructions, but if you're looking to fix it, the high-level outline was;

  • git clone the project
  • git log to see the commit history
  • git checkout 5ff2eca20b762a381cb3b2d13cdf12c66e352995 <- Commit that finally seems to work in 0.7.10 again (anything newer did not work)
  • copy the cloned directory to the modules directory. Example: cp -r <cloned project directory> <your app files>/FoundryVTT/Data/modules/scaleGrid/
  • I also deleted the moved .git folder from the modules/scaleGrid directory
  • Restarted FoundryVTT

Doing so allowed me to get it working with 0.0.13 again and I'm able to use the grid menu again in 0.7.10.

This is just me passing along information. Trying it yourself at your own risk. I accept no responsibility for any potentially issues you may run into nor work lost from trying this.

Thank you so much for your help! I didn't know how to do it but with your explanations i've done!

Thanks a lot

Bumping this - the repo should absolutely be reorganized to allow for proper installation for older versions of the module. This cascades into undesirable behavior when an older version of Foundry tries to pull an older version of this module, thinking that it is compatible, but ends up installing the latest version, which may actually be incompatible, silently and without warning or error.

If this is still a problem, you can open an issue in the new repository location here.
