Display drivers for Octoprint not working correctly - Pi 3 B+

Installed Octoprint to SD via their image file. Installed drivers for UCTRONICS_LCD35_RPI / Octoprint (followed step by step installation instructions).

Screen worked fine on console. Installed Octoprint desktop via "sudo /home/pi/scripts/install-desktop"

Now the screen flickers inconsistently on screen saver, and flickers beneath the cursor when touching the screen. SEEMS like a refresh rate problem.
