Feature request: Soundbite/Clip extractor

Functionality within the app to create and save/export short clips (soundbites) from playing audio book.
Narrative
When listening to a book, I often find myself wanting to share a quote or an interesting snippet from it. A soundbite feature would allow me to create and share an audio clip with other apps.
Design
I don't have any strong options related to UX - perhaps it could be implemented as a "press-and-hold" button similar to how many IM apps handle voice recording or through a system similar to the bookmarks.
The amazing podcast player Overcast by Marco Arment has a similar feature to share a short sound clip of a max time of 1:30 min. The UI is reminiscent of the Voice Memos app for editing/trimming audio files. A soundwave is displayed and handles to set the start and end point. Additionally you can select if you want to include a logo and artwork.

Probably reasonable to have some sort of length limit - while there is no fixed limit, it makes it easier to claim fair use.
