Can you show your code, ideally with a minimum reproduction? The timing alone is not enough to work off of.
Ultimately, I ended up moving away from pyo3-asyncio. I created my own event loop shims by implementing `std::task::{Context, Poll, RawWaker, RawWakerVTable, Waker}` & `futures::channel::oneshot` and drive the event loop directly...
