Piped sometimes refreshes tab when other Piped tab is opened/loaded.

Describe the bug

This bug happens when I am watching a video on the official instance using the kavin.rocks instance (and may happen on others), and I middle-click the Piped, opening the homepage (which I have set as feed), in a new tab. This sometimes causes the video to refresh, and for me to lose my video progress.

To Reproduce

1. Open a video in piped, such as this video
2. Middle-click, or open in new tab the Piped homepage and then the video refreshes once.

Expected behavior

I would want the video to not refresh, just for there to be 2 tabs open.

This does not happen all the time, just sometimes.

I suspect this is the service worker detecting an update to the client files, this happens when the frontend is updated. I don't think the steps you provided have anything to do with the fact it reloads like that.
