Two versions - import won't touch either ...
(Version 2.9.9)
I have previous versions of episodes of TV shows (.MKV) but also have Plex download episodes for me (.TS). One could argue that this shouldn't happen, but that's a discussion outside of the scope of my report.
For some reason, I wanted to flatten the directory structure of that show, from the files being distributed into season folders, to all files in the root. It seems a number of episodes were not moved in this process and it took a while for me to figure out why.
TV Rename gracefully handles where there is one version in the source and one in the destination, but it seems it doesn't touch cases where there are two versions in the source folder (and this can easily happen.
For clarity, this happens both in the flattening process but also when I moved files and tried to import them from the scan folder. Just being ignored.
What would you expect it to do? Sounds like a new feature.
To be clear:
- You can set it up to have multiple library folders for each show for the same series
- It will ask you if there is a downloaded file that it thinks you may want to override the library version
- If you have 2 matching files in the download location then it doesn't automatically match, it just lets you know in the log (and on the right in the scan results tab)
My assumption is that it would handle the situation as it does importing where you already have an existing entry. Pick the one to chose and (offer to) delete the other, and give the user the information needed to make the decision (again same as the import).
So in summary - when importing with one version in repo and one in scan is no really different that two versions in scan or two versions in repo. I would expect all three scenarios handled the same.
Does that make sense?

I was gonna make this suggestion, not completely sure if it's the same. But basically, I have the same show duplicated on 2 different servers, TVRename will only rename one. If I want to rename the other, basically I have to remove the first one that has already been renamed. So I was gonna suggest the ability to handle show duplicates but I assume that's what this suggestion is already for.
Not really the same; I targeting consolidation to one version only. Multiple versions in source and/or multiple versions in the destinations confused TV Rename when I pointed it out. If that is still an issue than I have just learned that it's a quirk and navigated around it since I guess. But it's not trying to manage duplicates - rather trying to eliminate them.

I see. I'll open a new suggestion I guess. thanks. @SirSparkles is that ok?
I just wanted to add on to this. I have a show with multiple versions. I have it added twice, but it changed the episode ordering for both locations even though I want each to be monitored separately.
