When used in a GitHub README, clicking the widget takes you to a static image

Hello, I'm not sure if this is something that recently changed with the way GitHub renders markdown, but it's something that I noticed on my repository and then I came here and noticed that the clickable previews on your GitHub page do the same thing. When clicking them, they open as a direct link to the image of the widget, instead of the actual Discord server.

Is there something I'm missing, or did something change and cause this to break?

I was able to get it to work by nesting it in another link:
