Use headset and other microphones

Open ioctl-user opened this issue 3 years ago • 6 comments

Please consider implementing following features:

  1. Using default system speech sound origin (it may be headset and so on) instead of phone MIC only.
  2. Manually selecting speech sound origin in addition to phone MIC.

Oh, strange. I did not do anything phone-mic-specific, so I expected any mic to work directly as it usually happens with Android. I will need to look into this.

This one may be good example: https://f-droid.org/packages/org.telegram.messenger/

Using Tasker and a plugin called BlueTask, I was able to set my Bluetooth headset's microphone as sound origin for Dicio. It is a good enough solution for me until something better is available.

From @sudomain in #229:

Thank you for work on #228 . While testing this, I noticed that when a headset starts Dicio listening, it uses the microphone built into the phone. If the headset supports it, can it use microphone(s) build into the headset? This should improve audio quality in situations where the phone might be in the user's pocket or bag.
