Filenames displayed in Data Browser should (optionally?) not be munged.

One thing that I, as a user, find disconcerting about the current Data Browser is the way that it displays filenames in a supposedly 'user-friendly' way, where camel-case transitions and underscores are converted to spaces.

I would much rather have the option of filenames being left alone.

  • If I create a file via the Data Browser and call it FooBar.txt, then it is displayed as Foo Bar.txt.
  • If I create a file called Foo_Bar.txt, then it is also displayed as Foo Bar.txt.
  • If I create a file Foo Bar.txt, it is also displayed as Foo Bar.txt.

This is a mis-feature, I believe, and should be eliminated or disable-able (e.g., when a user has chosen Power User in their Preferences.

FooBar

I have to say, I don't like this feature even when applied to ontology terms. Personally I would rather see "sameAs" than "same as". Unless of course it is generated by a label rather than by munging the term.

I don't like it either and don't think is a help. It is misleading.
