Conversation thread not updated when receive a new text while composing a new message

If I'm composing a new text to someone, and they send me a message while I'm typing, their message isn't added to the conversation. I have to send the text I'm composing first, before I see what they sent me.

From memory, I also may have to exit the conversation and return to it before I see the new text.

I'm using v5.8.0 from F-Droid.
