[Feature request] Lock swipe directions to phone orientation
I love that SG can rotate media by their aspect ratio. What I find confusing is that SG then also rotates the direction of swiping.
Locking the swipe directions to the phone orientation may be an improvement. This way, regardless of the orientation of the image, the swipe directions to advance to the next or previous image would always be the same for the user.
Viewing a portrait image in portrait mode is intuitive in that swiping left or right loads the previous or next image. When a landscape image is shown in portrait mode, SG rotates the image and swipe directions. Suddenly, to view the previous and next image, you swipe up or down ... unless the user rotates the phone as well. But some images in landscape format may not be intended for being viewed in landscape orientation. Sometimes I am just browsing images and don't want to rotate my phone either. In these situations it can be difficult to guess in which direction to swipe to advance to the next image.
I love SG for aspect-based auto-rotation (it's faster to physically rotate the phone than to tap-to-rotate in any phone I tried due to the settling time of the rotation). But despite moving the swipe directions along with the current orientation makes sense, my brain instinctively tries to swipe using the original orientation. And this even when knowing the underlying behavior.
I fully agree with the above suggestion.
