I dont know how to start
What steps will reproduce the problem?

im supposed to see the game start when i double-click but instead the .jar just
opens as if it were just any normal .jar
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.6 on windows 8.1

i read the readme instructions and did not work, and yes i have java 7

Hello, seems kind of a duplicated issue.
On can use micropolis\micropolis-java\INSTALL instructions to build and then run the application jar.
One way to start without having to build is using the already java 7 built version made available by Bengrs https://github.com/Bengrs/micropolis/releases/download/micropolis-java-1.7/micropolisj-build-1.7.zip (as answered in other issue https://github.com/SimHacker/micropolis/issues/73)
