The status bar is saying there are errors, so check View -> Progress to see what they are. It may say you haven't got the corresponding Resources (.assets.resS) file loaded.

Also double check the path when you save. It likes to prepend the asset directory to the file name, so it doesn't actually save the file where you expect if you haven't changed folders after the dialog opens.

I had the same issue and assumed the uabe was just outdated, but if you (for example) want to edit sharedassets2 you need to open the .assets file, .assets.resS and .resource because the export plugin needs those. so open only those three, select a texture2d and now you can export them.
