[BUG] Grid lines render through the chip in the 'Customize' menu

Open voximir-p opened this issue 11 months ago • 5 comments

Description

When Ctrl+G is pressed (or set 'Show grid' to on in 'Prefs'), the grid lines will render through the chip in the 'Customize' menu

Steps to reproduce

  1. Menu -> Prefs -> Set 'Show grid' to On
  2. Menu -> Save Chip -> Customize
  3. Unlike in the normal editor, the grid lines are rendered after the chip.

Wait that's a bug??

I'd definitely argue this is a feature, not a bug. how else do you align features on the chip, like LEDs, 7 seg displays, etc, to the grid unless the grid is rendered above the chip?

I'm sorry, but I don't quite understand what you are trying to say. You can hold Ctrl and snap to the grid like normal. If you show the grid but don't let it snap, then what's the point of doing that?

okay, so you say that the issue is that the grid shows up above the chip, instead of behind it. right?

that's so you can use the grid to align parts, even if your aren't actively snapping to it.

to flip the premise around, what would be the point in keeping the grid behind the chip when you're ostensibly moving parts on the surface of a chip around?

I'm saying that in the customize screen, the grid should render above the chip

Okay, but I'll wait and see what Seb thinks about this.
