Search Highlighting Illegible In Dark Mode

Open mo-DanCubbon opened this issue 8 months ago • 2 comments

📚 Documentation

When viewing the documentation in dark mode when you have searched for a term, highlighting is automatically turned on.

When you are in dark mode, this becomes very difficult to read, and the button to turn off the highlighting is all the way at the top (which if you scroll to you will lose what you were looking at...)

Could the highlighting be either turned off by default, or the colour changed when viewing in dark mode?

Thanks.

From @SciTools/peloton - perhaps this would be improved with a different theme? The Sphinx sphinx-book-theme used in Geovista seems to be more visually appealing?

I have confirmed that Sphinx don't really care about this, as there is no dedicated setting for it.

We can customise anything via custom CSS - would just need to inspect the webpage to see what CSS we would need to change. Something like:

.highlighted {
    background-color: #4444aa !important;
    color: #ffffff !important;
}
