browser.launcher does not work

• Hardware: AMD 64
• OS version: Debian Bookworm
• Kodi version number: Kodi v21.1 (Omega)

I have installed firefox and (in Kodi) the browser.launcher addon. When I open the addon I see this: ..

• Add Website The top line, when clicked, gives me just .. The Bottom Line, when clicked, brings up a dialog where I can enter a url. When I do so and click OK the dialog closes and immedialtely re-appears again, with PART of the url still filled in.

And that's it. I have configured the addon to use firefox, but I cannot start it. The addon does not list any dependencies. I have not been able to find a 'howto' on the net.
