Enable Broadcast option in a channel

Description:

I have created a read only channel. After the creation i can't switch to a broadcast channel, where users can reply to a message.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create channel
2. Click on channel info
3. Edit channel
4. Broadcast switch missing

Expected behavior:

1. Create channel
2. Click on channel info
3. Edit channel
4. Broadcast switch available and operable

Actual behavior:

Server Setup Information:

• Version of Rocket.Chat Server: 4.8 unfortunately no further server info, boss cant check everyhting

Client Setup Information

• Desktop App or Browser Version: both, windows 10/11

I would like to contribute to this feature. Would like to have some directions What is the expected behavior of a broadcastable channel ? I have interpreted that a broadcast channel should allow users to reply to broadcasted message

Hi @dougfabris ! Are there any results from the discussion and review on whether this feature is needed? It is really missing. If a channel was created and contains content, it is impossible to make it broadcast. Only by creating a new one.

Any updates on this? I have a year old broadcast channel that I need to change to a normal read-only channel and it seems this issue still isn't solved in the latest version?

Any news on this? I also have 3 older broadcast channel I need to change into normal read-only - so same issue here.
