Initiate outbound Twilio SMS from Livechat

Currently we can only SMS folks who send us a message first. Would be nice to have the ability to initiate outbound SMS messages within Livechat like so...

I still really need this. Any plans to work on it? At least for now is there a way i can send a text to myself and edit the number in RocketChat so that my reply goes to the new number?... image

EDIT Actually it is possible to edit a number text number you send to yourself, sort of. The user name will then be <new_name>@<old_number>.

we don't see rocket.chat as having a proactive way of engaging customers. we plan having many omni channels integrations though.

Seems like a fairly easy implementation given the fact that I can change the number of an incoming SMS and initiate an SMS to the new number. In other words the functionality already exists and based on comments here people really want this - to the point they are ready to pay for implementation. If you are not looking to engage customers, what is the purpose of LiveChat anyway?

With the release of RockectChat v6, I have come to realise the devs are now focused nearly entirely on upsells and the marketplace. They have forgotten about continuous product improvement. That is why this and many other feature requests have been assign to the dustbin of profit chasing. While monetising the product is fine, don't forget your roots or the tree will wither.

Interested in this. Is there a way to hack this in even, not via fiddling with the phone number hack per above but possibly initiating something via API or similar?

Would also like this. Seems like it's a feature many other omnichannel platforms have. Often times a customer may want us to send them some information via text.
