Hosting Shiny App long-term for paper

Open laurahspencer opened this issue 2 months ago • 2 comments

Has anyone included a direct link to a Shiny App in a published paper, or. say, a link from a GitHub repo release that was referenced in a paper? Basically, curious how/where folks have hosted Shiny App long-term. Possibly related to #2371

I think shinyapps.io should be relatively permanent eg https://sr320.shinyapps.io/contra-facet-z/ https://sr320.shinyapps.io/resazurin-explorer/

For that you could just link on readme of paper repo.

but if can be deployed directly on GitHub pages I feel like would be more robust, updatable, citable...

eg https://robertslab.github.io/pgc-edc-oyster/ https://sr320.github.io/shellfish-dashboard/oyster_ltm_dashboard.html https://urol-e5.github.io/deep-dive-genome-browser/

Do you have link to current version of shiny app?

GitHub pages seems like a good option, thanks!
