I would try the MapThing library listed on the Processing site: https://processing.org/reference/libraries/

I failed to find current documentation for how to structure a library for Processing 4 - can you help me out? I'm happy to update this if it's still considered useful on its own and if MapThing doesn't solve the same problem.
