Converting to 4:3 automatic scaling mode features with manual mode

Open mpek opened this issue 3 years ago • 1 comments

Feature details

With wrongly encoded videos, the aspect ratio has to be changed.

When a video has a PAR of 16:9 but needs to be in 4:3, I set scale mode to "Manually" and use a resolution of 720x576 as we have/had this resolution as standard definition resolution. My question is, if there are any scale settings available like when scale mode set to "Automatic". I recognized, with scale mode being "Automatic", there are settings for scale mode available, that I would like to have in manual as well.

A different approach would be, to be able to set the aspect ratio to 16:9 or 4:3 and leave it on "automatic", where scaling mode features are available.

Thanks for reading.

The automatic sizing logic is rather complicated (rotations, cropping, padding, anamorphic, scaling), and I decided to make things simpler by having the "Manual" mode take care of any case where the aspect ratio needs to change. That lets the "Automatic" mode interface be a lot simpler.

The Manual mode lets you do literally anything you want - upscale or downscale, change to any aspect ratio, provided you do the calculation.
