Program freezes when dragging certain folders

Open beyond1207 opened this issue 4 years ago • 9 comments

Hi,

When i drag certain folders to the program, it will start to process the files and then freeze before its complete. This is before the encoding is even started. This does not happen with all folders, usually folders with many subfolders.

Im using 6.34 beta. I dont recall this happening in previous versions of the program which ive been using for a couple years.

Thanks

Hello,

Same problem here. Folders containing more than 40 / 50 files are freezing the analyze process. Thank you David for your great job and hope that you will find a solution. Best regards Angang

I dragged 76 ISOs into the window from a mounted NAS share, the "Scanning" dialogue appears with a small percentage green but it will sit there for two days not doing anything.

Also on Beta 6.34 on Windows 10

Is it always the same file it freezes on or is it random? When it gets stuck can you get a log from the scan and post it to Pastebin?

It is random but related to number of files (not number or complexity of sub-folders).

For example, all episodes are ok, but if i put something like 90 files, analyze freeze on episode randomly (last time it was, ep 17, now for this example with same amount of dragged files, it is ep 19.

Is it helpfull or do you need more informations ? Thank you so much Dadid

Thanks for the reports. I can reproduce this as well. For me it's getting stuck on the 46th item that it's scanning. It doesn't seem to be related to any particular file.

This may have started happening when I made the batch scan a lot faster by re-using the same worker process. It may have run out of some resource after a certain number of scans. I might be able to work around this by re-creating the process after a certain number of scans.

Can you tell me how many scans it completed before freezing?

RandomEngy avatar Jul 03 '21 20:07 RandomEngy

It locked up and I had to kill the VidCoder Worker Process in order to get the app to respond again:

bitrate=192000 English (AC3) (2.0 ch) (192 kbps) [22:17:53] scan: 10 previews, 720x576, 25.000 fps, autocrop = 128/128/0/0, aspect 4:3, PAR 16:15, color profile: 5-5-5 [22:17:53] scan: decoding previews for title 14 ERROR: Operation 'Ping' failed. Worker process exited unexpectedly with code 1. This may be due to a HandBrake engine crash.

Interestingly, it seems to be on the DVD: "A Good Year", but even if I don't include that it will lock up on another one. It seems to be locking up on scanning the third DVD.

Thank you David.

Like bobdvd : "It locked up and I had to kill the VidCoder Worker Process in order to get the app to respond again." So, it freeze also on the first batch after killing the VidCoder worker process if i drag a relative high number of files (this number is variable but each time i try less than 40 it is ok).

Thanks again for your attention

Added a workaround in 6.35 Beta. I've restarted the scanning process after 40 items and it's fixed it in my case.
