How to file a helpful issue

Qubes OS release

Qubes release 4.2.1 (30 Jun 2024, Stable version)

Brief summary

On every restart my VMs (Fedora, Whonix), initiate a resize job after changing the configuration to 70G Private and 20G User. This process takes approximately 1-2 minutes before the VM starts up.

I don't know why it takes so long, but it's a known issue in the latest version that others are also experiencing. After a new setup of my system, the recurring resizing process takes a significant amount of time and instead of it happening once it happens every time now.

Steps to reproduce

Set up a default standalone Fedora or Whonix Qube and immediately resize its partition after creating the Qube. You should then encounter the problem on every Qube restart.

Expected behavior

It should resize once instead of always resizing on reboot

Actual behavior

It should resize once and start in less than a minute

What did i try so far

I experimented with various configuration options by initially setting up the VM, starting it up, and then resizing it. I tried resizing only the private or user space, but the issue persists.
