[Feature] automatically mark as read

Open dreamflasher opened this issue 4 years ago • 8 comments

Currently, when I open the app multiple times a day, I see the same posts. There is an option to hide read posts.

It would be amazing if you could add an option to automatically mark posts as read if they have been shown on the screen.

Pro tip: Set the Fling left action to (•) Hide under Settings / Behavior / Post Actions / Fling left and simply swipe left as you scroll down the feed. (Bonus feature: Any posts hidden in haste can easily be located by tapping Hidden Posts in the User Items section!)

How do I scroll down with swiping left? When I swipe left it down votes a post. Does it mean I need to hide every single post manually?

Thanks for the workaround, it's a start. However, it's a bit cumbersome to hide each post, especially since the posts don't disappear right away and you still need to scroll past the hidden posts.

So I support this feature request. I used another app for browsing reddit which had this feature before I switched to RedReader. As much as I love RedReader, that's the one feature I miss.

Adding another vote for this feature.

I've come over to RedReader after the great Reddit fiasco of 2023, and so far I'm really loving the app, but not being able to mark as read on scroll is unfortunately probably going to make me look elsewhere for now. The time it takes to manually act on every single post in order to not see it every time you open the app really starts to add up.

@chetcuti Did the app you are coming from support this? And could you post here if you find an app that supports this?

Another vote for this. Boost for Reddit had trust feature. Super useful! 👍

It did, and I didn't realize how important the feature was until I had to find a new Reddit app. Unfortunately I have to yet find another app that supports it.
