What is the Maximum number of Audio files that can be indexed and played by the RandomAll? Assuming all files are 4-digit leading zero padded named files at the root.

Hi, as far as I understood there is no indexing used. The MP3 player chip does not support this, also reading from a FAT32 file system seems not to read the exact file name. So the files have to be sorted. Additionally there are two kinds of numbered folders:

  • zero padded two digits ("01"-"15" or "00"-"15") containing up to 3000 files (playLargeFolder command)
  • zero padded three digits ("001"-"255" or "000"-"255") containing up to 999 files, but only the first 255/256 files can be played directly (playFolder command and after file 255 with playNext command). And then there can be up to 3000 files in the root if you beleive the documentation, but as far as I know there can just be 512 elements (files and folders) in the root of a FAT32 file system. Additionally there are two other folders, "advertisement" and "mp3" which also can contain files.

Unfortunatelly I do not find reliable informations about all this yet and it may vary on the used DF Player - since there are several chips out there which are used for such a system and all of them are sold as DFPlayer Mini...

Now your question: I did also not find any information if the "randomAll()" command will play a MP3 from any folder or if it will play a file from within the "mp3" folder.

Regards Nils
