Potential bug and/or feature suggestion for Gated Cable

Minecraft Version: 1.21.4 Mod Loader: Fabric Mod Version: v0.6.3

Been playing around with the mod for a while now to get a feel of it's capabilities; but I'm a little confused about the gated cable and that it doesn't work as I expect it. I would describe it as comparable with locking repeaters in cable form. In testing it allows power/data to pass or not when powered. Though when power/data is going through the gated cable and then power it, it locks, but with the value going through it, and continues to provide it, even when the providing source is off.

I expected it to act like a switch/relay like in real life electronics; when closed it provides power and open completely disconnects it.

Recreate by connecting a Text Input to a Gated Cable which is itself connected to a lever and the cable outputs to a Nixie Tube Controller which is of course connected to Nixie Tubes. Flick the lever and enter text, nothing outputs as Gated Cable is locked, flick the lever again and output shows. Next flick the lever again and enter a new value or empty value and observe the output not changing and outputting previous output instead of nothing.

This is my confusion of whether this is a bug or intentional design. Whether this is intentional or not, this also comes with a feature suggestion depending on that answer.

If this is a bug: then this is an interesting and potentially useful bug. To the point that I think this should be a feature that one could enable with the wrench to change how the gated cable operates to allow it to lock like repeaters.

If this is intentional: then I suggest a feature that could be enabled via the wrench to change the gated cable to actually work like a switch/relay; where power/data can pass and when locked, cuts it and prevents it from going through. (doesn't hold a value)
