Large `.git` directory size

I'm not one to complain too much about large repo size, but I'm having trouble pulling and pushing the taxdata repo. I wonder if there's a way to remove large files from the git history using something like BFG.

@hdoupe I'm on board with trying to clean up the history a bit. I'll look into the tool you linked to and see if it'll work for us!
