crypto.dir what can it be!

Much to my surprise previous issues show that people managed to compile this code, but I have no idea what or where the crypto.dir is, mentioned in the properties. I cloned recursively of course. Also, google informs me only PIVX is including such a crypto.dir , which of course elevates the mystery! Any ideas?
