Editor stalls for a while after pasting large text

1. I have appended a lot of text. If the text is too large, the page becomes irresponsive for some seconds
2. Afterwards, ctrl+A to select the whole text. Then, hit "delete"

The page becomes irresponsive as much as to make chrome raise an alert. It may take 30 to 40 seconds to react.
