Updgrade to latest HPLIP version

My printer is only supported in HPLIP 3.23.3 and the latest version of HPLIP is currently 3.23.12, which has been out for 6 months now. Are there any plans to support newer versions?

Is there even a reason to use this for newer printers, which surely support IPP Everywhere? I set it up just to see if CUPS 2 would list it in the web-based UI (it does, but as "Discovered Network Printers" instead of my preferred "Printing Applications"). The HPLIP version in the released version of the distro I use doesn't include my printer either, but that's not a big problem, as the printer supports IPP Everywhere (in fact, I've disabled printing via AppSocket, as the CUPS documentation says that's a frequent attack vector for HP printers).
