[Feature request] output intermediate mime types in cupsfilter
I used https://wiki.debian.org/CUPSFilter to debug a problem recently, and it was a fairly good experience. The hardest part was getting the PPD. However, I noticed that at the end of the tutorial, there is the following diagram on how to check intermediate outputs after each filter:
+---------+ +----------+ +------------+ +------------------------+
| | pdf | | vnd.cups-pdf | | vnd.cups-raster | |
test.ps=>| gstopdf |====>| pdftopdf |=============>| gstoraster |================>| rastertogutenprint.5.2 |=>PCL
| | | | | | | |
+---------+ +----------+ +------------+ +------------------------+
One can discover the intermediate filters with cupsfilter --list-filters as shown in this tutorial. But how can one discover the input/output mimetypes of these filters? For example, it's not really intuitive that gstoraster would accept vnd.cups-pdf--I might expect it to accept 'ps' instead.
As a feature request, can cupsfilter output intermediate types, or even this full diagram, with a new command line option?
cupsfilter is not part of cups-filters but of CUPS. Therefore I have transferred your feature request to CUPS.
Whoops, that makes total sense, I wasn't thinking. Thank you!
Not for 2.4.0, but we might be able to add this in a subsequent patch release as a new option to cupsfilter.
