Improve documentation on how to add a data source

The current version of the docs could use some additional information. Also, we are missing information on static files.

I recently ran across a very cool example of the GitHub Wiki feature in use. I think that we could discuss this and think about migrating our current documentation/information to that.

Moving our documentation to the wiki does indeed sound like a good idea. It will be easier to maintain and update that way.
