ICT as sector or technology

Open sferenz opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

Description of the issue

Within a metadata schema for energy research software (https://github.com/NFDI4Energy/ERSmeta) we use the subclasses of OEO:00000407 (technology) and OEO:00000367 (sector) to describe the covered sector and technologies of a energy research software. When describing software in the area of digitalized energy systems we missed terms to describe information and communications technology (ICT) as sector or as technology.

Ideas of solution

ICT can be added as sector or/and as technology into the OEO.

@sferenz thanks for the issue. sector is defined quite generically as subdivision of a system in OEO. technology is defined as a plan specification that describes how to combine artificial objects or other material entities and processes in a specific way.

My first impression is, that technology fits better here. But that depends a lot on the final definition. Could you come up with a definition draft for ICT, in you own words or cite a (scientific) resource that defines/describes the concept @sferenz ?
