In GitHub you can only "assign" people of the organisation, so normally in Open Source projects one doesn't get assigned to do a task, but you put yourself forward saying it here and start working on it by opening a draft pull request. Then questions about the requirements or anything that's not explained, can be posted here or in the chat. We will guide you in the process.

That said, I don't really understand what's the problem with the current situation of the website footer, and what advantage would bring to make it dynamic.

Hello sir,

I’d like to highlight some drawbacks of the fixed footer and propose making it dynamic:

  • User Experience (UX): A fixed footer takes up valuable space, especially on smaller screens, potentially distracting users from the main content.
  • Mobile Responsiveness: Some footer elements disappear in the mobile view. A dynamic footer ensures all elements are accessible and responsive.
  • Accessibility & Consistency: Users expect to scroll to the footer when needed. A fixed footer can feel intrusive and inconsistent with a dynamic layout.
  • Additionally, in mobile view, the text above the social links disappears, which is visible in tablet view.

I don't know whether #365 was trying to fix this, but as it's now there are lines that are behind the footer that can't be seen, like "Contact the OpenAstronomy Members" section. If anyone wants to try to fix it, please go ahead and open a Pull-Request
