What happened?
Customer has noted that the bundled tentacle (8.2.2148) with Octopus version 2024.3.12766 is displaying as tentacle version 8.1.1518. Also happening with tentacle 8.2.2152
We have reproduced this and can see within the registry entry that the display version is incorrect.
Reproduction
- Download (or upgrade) Octopus server to 2024.3.12766
- (Optional) Upgrade tentacle to 8.2.2148 or 8.2.2152
- Check within the registry entry that the display version is incorrect.

As of Tentacle version 8.2.2297, the correct DisplayVersion seems to be assosciated with Tentacle.
I can confirm that this is still an issue with Octopus Server 2024.4.7158. In our corporate environment, this is throwing our compliance team into a tizzy. Can someone take a look at this? Is there a workaround?
Hi @electricsysadmin, I'm sorry you've been experiencing this issue! Our usual process somehow neglected to update this ticket, but I can report that this bug was fixed in Octopus Tentacle v8.2.2297.
To resolve this issue, I recommend you update your installation of Octopus Tentacle to the latest version (currently v8.3.2905).
You can get the latest version of Octopus Tentacle from our downloads page, or by upgrading Octopus Server to v2025.1 which contains a bundled copy of Tentacle that includes the fix.

I can confirm that we're seeing this issue with Tentacle 8.2.2148. Tentacle 8.2.2148 is what gets deployed with Octopus Server 2024.4.7158. Can you confirm what version of Tentacle this is fixed in?
The Octopus support team confirmed that 8.1.2297 is a typo. @acodrington meant to say that this issue is fixed in Tentacle 8.2.2297 and Octopus server 2025.1.x.
