Inconsistent world block changes

Please explain what happened

  • Enter a new world and break a block
  • Disconnect and reconnect
  • Attempt to break block - observe particle effects but block persists
  • Disconnect and reconnect
  • Observe previously attempted broken blocks are now gone, but there are lighting errors
