Scale resetting after changes

When plotting a series (airs in this case) the scale resets after making changes to the appearances. For example, If I reset the scale to an appropriate values to see the data, then notice that I need to add the error bars, the scale resets after adding the error bars. Suggest change so that scale does not reset after changes.
