Why is there no Bash implementation of kumar_asshole?

I'm sure I've missed something but, why does it just execute the ruby script instead?

I suppose it is mostly the fact that bash language has not an API for getting along with gmail.

Why not just use curl? That's how I imagine it was originally done.
