What i mean specifically is, why can't you just use an extra uv channel for this?
I forgot to mention before, but we would be looking at getting this done for both skinned meshes AND static meshes.

Imo it's a new library, you should just make breaking changes for the first few versions, and focus on nailing all this stuff in the short term.
