[BUG]Sygic doesn't load maps

Open robshnup opened this issue 8 months ago • 7 comments

Describe the bug

With the new WSA-Build from 25/06/02 the Android Navi-App "Sygic" doesn't load mapfiles from Internet. With "Osmand+" and other apps downloading works as expected. The time before June '25 Sygic had worked and downloaded mapfiles too. Now endless looping.

Found the reason of this "bug". Sygic needs definitely access to location services. Grant it under Settings->Privacy&Security->Location.

Now everything works as expected here!

Rejoiced too soon! Other PC with same equipment rejects downloading maps despite of location services granted. Maybe one is a laptop with wlan other normal PC without wlan. Will investigate further...

I will also have a look at the issue when I get time in the weekends.

Perhaps this is a hint for that clue: On systems that fail (1 normal PC with Lan-Internet, 1 notebook with Wlan-Internet) the XML-file 'WsaService********.xml' breaks after line 293: < Data Name="vmId">{e955e4ba-d963-4c0f-9ae6-fbb0b800869c}</Data> > Functioning system records much events here further.

Another symptom is that also all other apps which make use of Internet are complaining of lack of connection to the web. (Weather report app, home automation cloud etc).

Seems that WSA-Service is not fully loading so Internet-connection is not available. Other logfiles are unobtrusive (Wsa-client****.xml, Wsa***.log).

I've got a workaround for this Sygic issue: If you have (old) mapfiles for sygic e.g. from your phone, then you can push such a map to WSA -> downloads by this command as Admin (developer mode and USB-debug enabled):

adb connect 127.0.0.1:58526 adb push [FOLDER_TO_PUSH] /storage/emulated/0/Download

These mapfolders are typically named like "nld.ta.2020.09" here for netherlands and the date collected. Then IN WSA you can take this folder from downloads und paste it to "Android -> data -> com.sygic.aura -> files->offline_maps".

Now Sygic should work as expected and will update old maps without problems.
