i can't get the last step working

What are you talking about? Please make sure your bug-report describes where you have a problem with that, what you already did and your environment (OS, Software versions that are maybe involved, …)

If 'makepkg' is not a typo you can use command-not-found to lookup the package that contains it, like this: cnf makepkg on linux Opensuse

@utubysdog makepkg is specific to Pacman, that is the package manager on Arch Linux for building Arch Linux packages. It's probably not included in any other distro, because they are likely to have an own build system and own packages. That's why you cant really use an Arch package, or the build method on, for example Opensuse.

You download the "Binary Tarball" from https://multimc.org/#Download, extract it and run the multimc script inside. Please also read the whole Download & Install to get what you maybe also need to install.
