Firmware backup: "cp: cannot create regular file -> read-only filesystem"

I always get this error, I tried NTFS, fat32 and exFAT

The USB stick is 64gb

well, it's because the first partition on your USB is being mounted read only, not much the script can do about that.

as I stress repeatedly in the documentation, this is meaningless/useless to me. ChromeOS board name as reported by the script is all that matters.

I had the same problem and found a work around. Although I wasn't able to find out why the device was mounted in read only mode. I was able to fix my problem by manually mounting the usb drive to /tmp/mydrive before starting firmware-util.sh
