Massive lag issues with smoke/fire

Issue: When you or another ship is on fire, massive lag ensues

Repro: Crash into a planet I guess. Maybe kill some stuff.

Normally I'd call an issue like this my fault, but since you have exactly 0 graphics settings, I'm making this your problem.
