port unreachable after working for a while

Generally et is working great Things will run for weeks on end with no problems.

Then something happens (today my Mac rebooted). Then all of a sudden I can no longer reconnect:

Could not reach the ET server: XXX

Worse - I'm not sure how to restart things to get it working again. I've had to resort to rebooting the server which works - but seems a bit extreme.

If I test the port with netcat it tells me the connection gets refused.

But why isn't the et server reopening the port? What else can I check to see what is wrong?

Is there anything I can do to restart things short or rebooting?

Instead of rebooting the server, just restart the et service? We did fix a number of issues recently in 6.0.10 that could be the cause of this.
