Idempotent producer documentation for Event Hub Kafka

Open joshuaphelpsms opened this issue 3 years ago • 6 comments

Event Hubs seem to support idempotent producers, but I can't find any documentation around this topic. Resilient-design mentions the idempotent consumer pattern but nothing around idempotent producers. I'm unsure the correct place for this documentation but it would be helpful to know whether or not this is supported.

@Naveenommi-MSFT

Thank you for the quick reply. According to the link you shared, idempotent producers are not currently supported for Event Hubs Kafka? The article is from 2018 when it went into public preview, so I'm not sure that this is still accurate. Is this still the case for idempotent producers? Either way, It would be helpful if Azure documentation stated whether or not this was supported.

@joshuaphelpsms @Naveenommi-MSFT - sorry for the inconvenience. I just checked with the dev manager and it's supported now. I will update the article. Thanks

@Naveenommi-MSFT @spelluru Ok thank you. I'm not sure if that article is the right place for the documentation since it is a dated article about when it went into public preview. As a developer interested in Kafka for Event Hubs, the blog article was difficult to find and I would expect to see this information in the Azure Docs.

@joshuaphelpsms - I am planning to update the main Event Hubs for Kafka article in Azure Docs. Thanks.
