I had a bunch of suggestions after a read-through so I've added edits in multiple commits:

  • edit: Link to ordinals docs, use the name "envelopes" to more precisely describe the OP_FALSE OP_IF technique (rather than ordinals/inscriptions which are conflated with wider "Ordinal theory" and "inscribing" sats)
  • edit: Minor copy change in did:btcr comparison
  • edit: Considerations: minor copy edit on expense, note that Tx can fail to confirm altogether, add consideration for bitcoin key and UTXO management, note that Bitcoin nodes are however inexpensive to run
  • edit: minor copy edit, DID UTXOs must be P2TR
  • edit: minor copy edit, make inscription transaction reveal clearer
  • edit: Instead of saying deletion requires a 51% attack, which isn't explained, more directly reference the continuously increasing energetic cost of transaction reversal
  • edit: Security Consideration: suggest pre-creation of revocation/deactivation transaction with similar properties and risks to PGP revoke
  • edit: Privacy Considerations: UTXOs used to create DID, and change UTXOs can link the DID to an amount of funds and spend/receive behaviour
