Have you tested https://github.com/ghaerr/elks for the https://github.com/MicroCoreLabs/Projects/tree/master/MCLV20_Max project?

ELKS can access XMS memory now while still a 16 bit operating system. XMS is used for disk buffers and RAM drive. XMS is not Expanded memory though.

It also runs Doom! :)

Make be an Expanded memory driver can be written for ELKS.
