python-tools was unable to find your machine's python executable.

Please try set the path in package settings and then restart atom.

I'm still getting the above error even after trying to correct the path to the python executable. Any suggestions would be much appreciated

Note this comment, showing the differences in the environment picked up by Atom depending on how it is launched under MacOS.
