nixos defaults

I've installed nixos manually, and found out about envfs later. Any idea whether envfs is enabled by default for the nixos kde/gnome installers? Could've really made my transitioning to nixos much easier.

Envfs is not the default. There is also a rare issue that we found with the use in a compute cluster and where we had to disable envfs. Would be nice to fix that before shipping envfs. However I think the NixOS manual could more prominently talk about using nix-ld and envfs (I think nix-ld might be actually already covered).

In the installer itself we probably don't need envfs because there we only run our own binaries commonly. Maybe you mean the kde/gnome profile instead?

exactly, the one which newcomers probably would try.
