Fingerprint Scanner/Unlock

Hello. Going to try to use this for the Nextbit Robin. Waiting for it to come in the mail, so in the meantime. How do I enable the fingerprint scanner on a PatchROM MIUI? Also, I heard some stuff about a makefile, and "local-apps=:" or something like that. Can someone give me an example of a makefile? Do I actually need to create a makefile, or is the tutorial on this repository all good.
